The Best of Harlem at Target

To celebrate the Target East Harlem store opening , the retailer is partnering with the best designers of Harlem, including the fashion duo Isabel and Ruben Toledo, for limited summer collections. The husband and wife team has designed some of the First Lady Michelle Obama’s memorable fashion ensembles. For their line at Target, they created affordable swimwear and dresses for all women who want to wear their designs, like the adorable one-piece with a sexy shoulder strap (above). Prices will range from $3.99 to $34.99, with 5% of the customers’ purchase going to the el Museo del Barrio, a non-profit museum in the Harlem community.

Veteran designer Stephen Burrows and chef Marcus Samuelsson will also launch exclusive collections for the Target shop in fashion and home decor, which will reflect and honor the spirit of Harlem. Purchases from both of the chic lines will be donated to The Fund for Public Schools in Harlem.

All of the collections will be available for purchase in the East Harlem store beginning July 25. If you aren’t in the area, don’t worry. You will have your chance to buy the styles when they are launched at Target.com and at selected stores on August 1.

The British lifestyle brand Mulberry will soon be available to budget-shoppers at Target. The retailer will collaborate with Mulberry for a limited-edition of handbags this Fall. We don’t know about you, but this is perfect timing for updating our wardrobes with a fabulous new bag for the chilly season! The collection will be available at most Target stores and at Target.com starting October 10. More details of the handbags to come!

On Sunday, Target launched the latest offering in chic fashion for your summer style, gorgeous shoes from designer Cynthia Vincent. After a busy weekend, which included celebrating my anniversary with my hubby, I called several Target stores to see where the sandals were available. However, I was surprised to learn that some of styles were already sold out! Not one to give up easily, I contacted one more store and my perseverance paid off!

Vincent’s line of flats, heels and wedges with fab embellishments and hardware are hot for the summer days ahead. My favorite style is the cognac wedges with studs, which are a wonderful bargain for only $29.99. The gladiator wedges are also available in hues of black, yellow and a multi-color print. I can’t wait to wear them with cropped pants, shorts and skirts!

Gia Coppola Directs for Zac Posen

Film director Gia Coppola, who is the niece of acclaimed director Sofia Coppola, worked with designer Zac Posen to illustrate his latest fashion project. Coppola’s short video features girl indie band The Like preparing for a stage performance. As they primp and polish for their show, the girls wear brocade dresses, tuxedo pants, raincoats and more from the exciting collaboration. Posen will launch the capsule collection for Target on April 25. Only two weeks to go! Enjoy the fun video below!

Eugenia Kim for Target

This weekend I went to my local Target store for a little shopping, and I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the Eugenia Kim hat collection was already on display! The fab designer collaborated with Target for a budget-friendly collection of trendy hats perfect for Spring.

Kim’s latest project was inspired by Havana, Cuba, which is evident in the details, such as the woven fabrics, the colorful trims and the cute appliques on the hats. I’m not a big hat person. Sometimes I might wear a baseball cap. However, I was very impressed with the styles from Target’s latest accessory designer, and Kim’s special signature trims and hardware were the kind of fashion that I have been searching for. The Eugenia Kim for Target line is a range of fedoras, bucket hats and newsboy caps are cute pieces to add to any outfit.

Out of the 12 styles of hats, my favorite was a black fedora with a dark gray satin ribbon trim. The prices are very reasonable, ranging from $14.99 to $19.99. I might have to visit Target again soon for a second style!
