First Lady Michelle Obama shows us how to maintain her fashion sense without overspending. Wearing the same dress from Merona for Target, she proves that style can be obtained at any price. You may remember seeing the Merona dress during a family vacation in 2009.

Recently, she joined Dr. Jill Biden, wife of Vice President Joe Biden, at the Joining Forces initiative at the Oceana Naval Air Station in Virginia Beach, VA. The First Lady co-founded the outreach program with Dr. Biden to support and honor America’s service members and their families. Whether she is speaking to homeless female veterans or helping to rebuild a children’s play area, First Lady Michelle Obama always look chic and stylish in the spotlight.

What is your favorite dress that you wear for multiple occasions? How do you style the look differently?

Looking chic in a pale green pencil skirt and a beaded cream cardigan from J. Crew, Michelle Obama visited a cancer care center in London with Sarah Brown, wife of British Prime Minister Gordon Brown. President Obama and his stylish First Lady are in London for the G20 Summit to discuss the world economy with other world leaders. Amid the chaos at London’s financial district, Obama’s signature classic style provided a welcomed dash of class, continuing her impact as a style icon overseas.

President Obama and the First Lady

Since their arrival to Great Britain, Michelle Obama has wowed the public with her elegant looks and her undeniable charm. She landed with her husband in London’s Stansted International Airport wearing one of her favorite designers, Jason Wu. The sunny yellow frock embraced the freshness of spring and also highlighted her natural beauty. It is refreshing to see that even on European soil, Obama is wearing American designers, said Wu. Wonder what designer Michelle Obama will be wearing when the First couple meets Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip at Buckingham Palace?

The fashionable First Lady Michelle Obama will appear on the cover of Vogue, on stands in New York and Los Angeles Feb. 17. For the magazine’s March issue, Obama chose to wear a beautiful fuschia silk dress from one of her favorite designers, Jason Wu, who created her lovely inaugural gown.

Praised for her style having glamour without having to sacrifice comfort, Vogue met with the First Lady after her husband’s election night in November. Obama is only the second first lady to grace their cover. Anna Wintour, the magazine editor at Vogue, chose Obama for the cover because “it’s inspiring to see our first lady so serene and secure in her personal style.”

The First Lady has favored the styles of new American designers, including Wu and Isabel Toledo, but she believes that women should wear what makes them feel comfortable. “First and foremost, I wear what I love,” she says. “That’s what women have to focus on: what makes them happy and what makes them feel beautiful. If I can have any impact, I want women to feel good about themselves and have fun with fashion.”

Election night was a historical event for many reasons. Not only was Barack Obama chosen as the 44th President of the United States but there was an increased in the voter turnout, proving that many people felt that their candidate of choice deserved their support. President-elect Obama stood proudly with his family, including his beautiful wife, Michelle who wore a red and black Narciso Rodriguez dress from the Spring 2009 collection. During the Democratic campaign, her wardrobe choices, which ranged from Thakoon Panichgul to Maria Pinto, captured the eyes of many fashionistas and placed her on Vanity Fair’s International Best Dressed List this year.

Now it looks like another fashion magazine is interested in the new leading lady. Vogue is very interested in having a Michelle Obama cover, according to a spokesperson from the publication. The tradition of a photograph with the new first lady originated with Eleanor Roosevelt. While the offer is still being discussed, if she does accepts, Obama would be the second first lady ever to grace the cover of the magazine. Former First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton appeared on the December 1998 issue.
