Club Monaco’s Fall Jewelry

Inspired by Alexander Calder

Inspired by Alexander Calder

Exciting news for those who appreciate fine art jewelry! Fav retailer Club Monaco was inspired by the late artist Alexander Calder for their fall jewelry. The Calder Inspired Collection, which is available now in stores, is a lovely selection of necklaces made of molded gold and silver wire with colorful resin stones. The collection, which ranges from $79- $139, is reminiscent of the American artist’s architectural mobiles and sculptures.

One of his most popular masterpieces was the Cirque Calder, a miniature circus which he created from wire, string, cloth and other objects. The small version was portable enough to carry in suitcases, allowing him to show his work in places such as New York City and Paris. While he gained popularity with the Paris art scene for his performances, his interest in wire sculpture lead him to learn kinetic art, where he ultimately developed mobiles. In addition to his famous wire sculptures, the artist’s legacy includes paintings, toys and jewelry which can be found in art museums across the country today.

One of my favorite pieces from the Calder Inspired Collection is a beautiful bib-style necklace with colored Murano glass and wood pieces set on a gold plated wire. It’s a new way to wear your fine art!
