Ready for Thanksgiving

It’s hard to believe that Thanksgiving has come and gone already. Whew! The holiday season has officially started, and that means that the festivities are here! To get you thinking about your next show-stopping outfit for your holiday party circuit, here’s the details of my latest ensemble inspired by the fun style of Gossip Girl Vanessa Abrams.

The fashion designer, who was recently  honored with the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award by the CFDA, was inspired by the ladies of Gossip Girl to create a collection that is amazingly affordable for fashionistas like us! “My collection for Target combines elements of art and the spirit of New York City with my signature prints, silhouettes and use of color,” said Sui. “I am thrilled to have the opportunity to share my design aesthetic with women everywhere at an affordable price.”

The Anna Sui collection for Target will be available at 250 stores nationwide and at Target.com starting September 13.

To celebrate the start of a new fashion season, the website will host a week-long series, The Day Before, which will air on the Sundance Channel, starting on Wednesday, September 8th. The new series will chronicle the final hours prior to the runway shows, featuring the work by some of the world’s leading designers, including Proenza Schouler, Fendi by Karl Lagerfeld and Jean Paul Gaultier. The world premiere will showcase the 40th Anniversary celebration of French designer Sonia Rykiel.

Made from individual pieces of the billboards, each unique bag will be a memento of NYC. Only 1,600 tote bags will be created, and will be constructed of 90% recycled flex bulletin vinyl. Sui’s signature touches, such as black enamel studs, add a polish to the bags.  The artists will use the existing images from the ads to create their own fashion project. The bags are $29.99, an affordable price point for an artistic version of upcyling, and are available now for pre-order on Target.com. H&M- The Swedish retailer has been a long-time favorite of mine because they have the best choices of fashion trends at very affordable prices. They have a great selection of accessories, including belts, print scarves, earrings, bangles, sunglasses and handbags. I also love their denim, sweaters, dress trousers, summer dresses and casual tees. H&M also scored big because of their fab projects with Matthew Williamson and Jimmy Choo, which debuts in November.

dELiA’s – The youth-friendly shop has some of the cutest graphic tees, which are also kind to your wallet. Pair these fun print tees of classic phrases or movies, such as Sixteen Candles, with the great-fitting jeans from their denim line. I also like the new plaid button down shirts and short corduroy skirts from their fall collection.

Target - From their exclusive collabs for clothing, shoes, and accessories to lower-priced lines from makeup artists Napoleon Perdis and home designer Dror Benshetrit, Target has everything for your wardrobe and your abode. Guest designers, such as Alice Temperley, Tracy Feith, Anna Sui and Rodarte, have created fashion-forward collections for the retailer. I visit the store to find all of my basics from shorts and swimsuits to layering tees and jackets. Be sure to check out their fall lines and exciting new collections for affordable fashion choices.  

JCPenney - The store has a semi-annual catalog, which is full of great ideas for women, men and kids’ clothing and shoes. Now, the chain has added e-commerce for their customers, and a fab roster of popular fashion designers, including Charlotte Ronson, Nicole Miller and Allen Schwartz. The I Heart Ronson collection reflects Ronson’s downtown girl atheistic, and lucky for us, owning a couple of pieces or so of her chic looks won’t break your bank.

Jessica Szohr in Anna Sui for Target

Gossip Girl Jessica Szohr’s incredible style never ceases to amaze me. The actress has proven that she knows her style smarts. The fashionista celebrated the 40th anniversary of the original lunar landing hosted by Louis Vuitton at New York City’s American Museum of Natural History. I love how she effortlessly mixed high-end labels with a fab budget collection from Target. Szohr wore a lace minidress from the highly-anticipated Anna Sui for Target line, and layered a butterfly-print vest from DKNY over the cute dress. She topped her creative ensemble with pricey pieces, a haute band jacket from the British brand, Temperley London, and in accordance to the theme of the event, a Louis Vuitton bag and shoes. I am thinking that she must have received the dress in advance to promote the Anna Sui collaboration. Not only has she seen the exclusive collection before it arrives to the masses, but she gets to wear the clothing. Lucky girl!

Szohr has been very busy filming the third season of Gossip Girl, which returns on September 14. Just in time to help you rejoin the gossip of Blair, Serena, Jenny and Vanessa, the new collection from Target will debut on September 13. I can’t wait for September!

Anna Sui Spring Show 2008

Soon all recessionistas and frugalistas will be able to enjoy the bohemian designs of the fabulous Anna Sui! The folksy artist will be the second designer of Target’s Designer Collaborations series, following in the footsteps of Alexander McQueen.

The Detroit native, whose designs were launched in 1991 with the encouragement of her friends, models Naomi Campbell and Linda Evangelista, will draw her inspiration for the collection from the popular TV show Gossip Girl. The designer was attracted to working with Target because of their new approach with designer partnerships, and was excited that she was able to choose her muse for her line. Mark your calendars for Sept. 13 when the collection launches. I have high hopes that this line will be fun!
