Jason Wu designed gown for First Lady Michelle Obama

Target recently announced a fabulous partnership with fashion designer Jason Wu. We are beyond excited about this collaboration! The NY-based talent has created beautiful garments for women, such as the lovely gown worn by First Lady Michelle Obama at the 2009 Inaugural Ball.

The limited-edition collection at Target will include women’s apparel, handbags and scarves. The line will embody Wu’s signature style of feminine sophistication. Prices will start at $19.99 for a covetable item from the artist.

Jason Wu for Target will be available on Feb.5 at most Target stores and at Target.com. Are you looking forward to the new collection?

First Lady Michelle Obama shows us how to maintain her fashion sense without overspending. Wearing the same dress from Merona for Target, she proves that style can be obtained at any price. You may remember seeing the Merona dress during a family vacation in 2009.

Recently, she joined Dr. Jill Biden, wife of Vice President Joe Biden, at the Joining Forces initiative at the Oceana Naval Air Station in Virginia Beach, VA. The First Lady co-founded the outreach program with Dr. Biden to support and honor America’s service members and their families. Whether she is speaking to homeless female veterans or helping to rebuild a children’s play area, First Lady Michelle Obama always look chic and stylish in the spotlight.

Showing all fashionistas that gorgeous style doesn’t require a second mortgage on your house, Obama wore a pretty dress from H&M for her appearance on the TODAY Show with Matt Lauer yesterday. The navy and white dress is only $34.95, and is available now in stores for Spring. We admire the savvy First Lady for having her personal stylist add the sleeves, which customized the frock for the cooler weather. To get more mileage from your dress choices, style a similar look with a light blazer or a sheer tee underneath for added layers. Then, in Spring wear your dress with sandals and enjoy feeling the warm sunshine.

Recently, the First Lady Michelle Obama joined the spouses of members of the G8 Summit for a tour of the earthquake damage in the medieval city of L’Aquila in Italy. Wearing a sunny yellow J. Crew skirt, a floral print cardigan from Liz Claiborne and a pretty Moschino brooch, Mrs. Obama looked lovely at the Palazzo del Governo of L’Aquila. Obama was in Italy along with her daughters, Sasha and Malia for her husband’s appearance at the G8 Summit.

It is so refreshing that Obama stays true to her favorite American designers, and chooses looks from brands, such as Liz Claiborne, that are affordable to all fashionistas.

Iconic American designer Ralph Lauren won the first ever popular vote at last night’s CFDA awards. The fashion genius, who is known for his classy looks, took home the award after receiving 15,000 votes online. Other awards were given to spectacular designers such as, Kate and Laura Mulleavy of Rodarte for Womenwear Designer of the Year, and Proenza Schouler’s Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez for the Accessory Designer of the Year. A special tribute was given to First Lady Michelle Obama for being a walking billboard of support for the fashion industry.

During an open house at the White House on Monday, First Lady Michelle Obama’s charming style did not disappoint as she greeted visitors. Obama wore a ’50s-inspired print dress from designer Tracy Feith. Fans of the First Lady’s sophisticated style will be able to get a taste of Feith’s designs when he unveils his collection for Target in May. Obama has already won the hearts of many fashionistas with her beautiful choices from J.Crew, Narsico Rodriguez, Isabel Toledo, Thakoon, and Jason Wu.

Election night was a historical event for many reasons. Not only was Barack Obama chosen as the 44th President of the United States but there was an increased in the voter turnout, proving that many people felt that their candidate of choice deserved their support. President-elect Obama stood proudly with his family, including his beautiful wife, Michelle who wore a red and black Narciso Rodriguez dress from the Spring 2009 collection. During the Democratic campaign, her wardrobe choices, which ranged from Thakoon Panichgul to Maria Pinto, captured the eyes of many fashionistas and placed her on Vanity Fair’s International Best Dressed List this year.

Now it looks like another fashion magazine is interested in the new leading lady. Vogue is very interested in having a Michelle Obama cover, according to a spokesperson from the publication. The tradition of a photograph with the new first lady originated with Eleanor Roosevelt. While the offer is still being discussed, if she does accepts, Obama would be the second first lady ever to grace the cover of the magazine. Former First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton appeared on the December 1998 issue.
