Target is ready to launch the amazing collaboration that has been on my wish list! Prabal Gurung for Target will debut on Sunday, Feb. 10.
You might remember the rumors of an affordable collection with the retailer a couple of years ago. Now all will be revealed this weekend, with an 80-piece collection of apparel and accessories, including handbags, shoes and jewelry.
Since his first show at New York Fashion Week in 2009, Gurung has been dressing fabulous Hollywood women, including Kerry Washington, Rooney Mara and Sarah Jessica Parker. His eponymous line is sold in luxury stores, such as Barneys New York.
The collection with Target was inspired by love, said Gurung of his latest collaboration. His signature floral power is used in gorgeous digital prints in dresses, tops and shoes, and is appropriate for all romantic occasions from the initial crush to the first date. The Olympic Games are only two weeks away and the excitement of the ceremonies has been building ever since the Olympic Trials last month. Fashion designer Ralph Lauren recently revealed the uniforms for Team USA at the 2012 Olympic Games in London. The sketches of the village wear (above) were created for the men and women of the 2012 U.S. Olympic and Paralympic teams. The refined American style of navy and red touches is perfect for the Closing Ceremony of the Games.
Actress and activist Olivia Wilde collaborated with contemporary label Alternative and Campaign Happiness to benefit the school children in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Wilde designed a limited-edition canvas message bag, which converts from a backpack style to a cross-body. Proceeds will go to the Academy for Peace and Justice, a secondary school in Haiti.
When she isn’t busy making films- her latest work, People Like Us comes out next weekend- the Irish-American actress offers her support to the rebuilding efforts in Haiti through her organization Campaign Happiness. She co-founded the charity with Barbara Burchfield to inspire people to take action and to share the belief that happiness comes from giving.
The messenger bag is constructed from vintage army canvas, antique brass hardware and a pebbled leather trim. It is available now at Shopbop for $138. Your purchase will help furnish a classroom for the children in Haiti.
