Give Love and Practice Peace with PONO
Last week I had the absolute pleasure to visit the showroom and offices of the accessories brand PONO by Joan Goodman. I was delighted to meet the creative team and get a first-hand view of the beautiful Spring Collection, as well as a sneak peek of what’s coming up for Fall styles.
If you are not familiar with PONO, I highly suggest you check out the earth-bound jewelry available at PONO Annex. The modern items are crafted from natural woods, shell and natural horn. Some of my favorite pieces are the metallic stonewashed choker necklaces, the Mother of the Pearl stainless steel cuffs, the multi-strand necklaces and the Italian Opaline bead baked enamel flower choker. Each piece dramatically transforms any everyday outfit or adds the wow factor to a formal dress.
PONO, which means “goodness” in Hawaiian, was founded by designer Joan Goodman, and was conceived as a creative representation of the years she spent in Hawaii. She was inspired by nature’s beauty to create organic-like sculptural designs, while maintaining a close connection to nature. Today, each item is crafted in Italian factories using natural resins, with constant care to the environment.
Goodman is also the President of Bobbi Trim Ltd., a button manufacturer and distributor for designers, including Marc Jacobs, Vera Wang, Thakoon and Anna Sui, to name just a few.
