In Memory of Alexander McQueen

By now you have probably heard the sad news today in the fashion industry. British designer Lee Alexander McQueen has taken his own life at age 40. McQueen was found in his flat this morning, just hours before his McQ line was expected to appear at New York Fashion Week.

The news of the talented, business-savy designer’s sudden death is a shock to me. His career spanned over a decade of fashion design, and was highly praised for his unique creations and pushing the boundaries in his shows, and it seemed that his career was just starting to take off.

The awe-inspiring fashion genius caught my attention a couple of years ago with his creations for Spring ’09. McQueen was a visionary, and recently gave his fans the opportunity to view his autumn ’10 collection by offering live video of his futuristic show from Paris Fashion Week. The look of bright colors on structured dresses, digitally enhanced prints and super-high shoes were a show to see! His contribution to the fashion world will be greatly missed.

As we start to come to term with the loss of his beauty in design and creativity, here are some of my favorite looks from McQueen, including the McQueen for Target collaboration from last year.
