PONO was founded by designer Joan Goodman, who is also the President of Bobbi Trim Ltd., a button manufacturer and distributor for designers, including Marc Jacobs, Vera Wang and Thakoon. Several years ago, Goodman wanted to expand the company, and PONO was conceived as a creative representation of the years she spent  in Hawaii. The name for the accessories brand was given after her best friend in Hawaii, whose name symbolized “goodness and belief in perfect order.” She was inspired by nature’s beauty to create organic-like sculptural designs, while maintaining a close connection to nature. Today, each item is crafted in Italian factories using natural resins, with constant care to the environment.
