The fashionable First Lady Michelle Obama will appear on the cover of Vogue, on stands in New York and Los Angeles Feb. 17. For the magazine’s March issue, Obama chose to wear a beautiful fuschia silk dress from one of her favorite designers, Jason Wu, who created her lovely inaugural gown.

Praised for her style having glamour without having to sacrifice comfort, Vogue met with the First Lady after her husband’s election night in November. Obama is only the second first lady to grace their cover. Anna Wintour, the magazine editor at Vogue, chose Obama for the cover because “it’s inspiring to see our first lady so serene and secure in her personal style.”

The First Lady has favored the styles of new American designers, including Wu and Isabel Toledo, but she believes that women should wear what makes them feel comfortable. “First and foremost, I wear what I love,” she says. “That’s what women have to focus on: what makes them happy and what makes them feel beautiful. If I can have any impact, I want women to feel good about themselves and have fun with fashion.”
