Steal Katie Holmes’ Look

Actress Katie Holmes enjoyed the festivities with her castmates at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah. While dressing for the cold weather, she upgraded her casual chambray shirt to rocker chic with a pair of skinny black jeans and fab sunglasses. You can create her classic style with some covetable and affordable pieces from one of my favorite stores, Martin + Osa.

Holmes’ glam look is pefect for the chic fashionista. Martin + Osa’s vintage chambray shirt is a great layering piece for sweaters and jackets. With spring looks coming up, I can’t wait to pair the lovely chambray hue with white jeans or khaki shorts when it is warmer outside.

To complete her look, choose the slim fit jean in Black Essex Wash and Ray-Ban Movie Star sunglasses in Tortoise, and you will look like a Hollywood star too!

Kell-O Debuts Bravo Show

Kelly Cutrone with Stefanie Skinner and Andrew Mukamal

In the spirit of this month’s New York Fashion Week, Bravo’s new series, Kell on Earth, which follows the hectic days of  PR Queen Kelly Cutrone, debuted this week. As the owner of the People’s Revolution, Cutrone manages the drama behind the production of several fashion shows every season. The PR firm is responsible for every detail of the show, from the invitations to the seating chart for the guests to the lineup of the runway models.

To create press for their fashion clients, “Kell-O” and her crew, including her assistant Andrew, feature the clothes from the designers’ showroom on the pages of fashion magazines, so that everyone who sees them can say “I want to buy that!” said the PR maven.

Cutrone refers to her employees as ”kind of like a wacky family,” with different personalities and styles meshing together. Her dedicated staff hold a tremendous amount of respect for her strong work ethic.

Branding firms like People’s Revolution are essential for designers to get the press they need for their shows, and hopefully protect the business of fashion!  Cutrone is passionate about helping emerging designers, such as David Delfin, launch their careers in the fashion industry. Other designers who have benefited from her prowess, include The City’s Whitney Port who showed her Whitney Eve collection last year at New York Fashion Week.

Even though Cutrone sees herself as a powergirl, all of her hard work is for her daughter, Ava. She is something like the 1950’s housewife, who sees her child every day. The take-no-prisoners demeanor softens a bit when she speaks of her little girl. “I organize my life with Ava so that I can be with her,” she said. If she really thought about her busy life, she would become overwhelmed, she said, so she tells herself just to stay in the here and now. There is no handbook on how to do this, said Cutrone, about being a PR powerhouse while being a single mother for her daughter.

Martin and Osa Goes Nautical For Spring

Fashionistas shop at Martin + Osa for their comfortable denim, soft cashmere sweaters and luxe shirts. But have you checked out the selection of jewelry? If you haven’t seen the new collection, you need to visit a store! The line of chain necklaces, hoop earrings and toggle bracelets are great ways to accessorize your wardrobe, with prices to love starting at $19.50. I really like how the maritime-inspired necklaces dress up a simple tee or compliment a jersey dress.

My favorite piece is the link pendant, which is uniquely made of several chunky rings on a long necklace. The extra length chain is perfect to wear now layered over a turtleneck sweater. Later, just adjust the clasp into one of the shorter links for a edgier, tailored look with a tee and jeans. Available in silver or gold, this could also be the perfect gift for Valentine’s Day!
